Welcome to our Department of Electrical Engineering, the College of IT Engineering, Kyungpook National University (KNU).
The Department of Electrical Engineering, KNU aims to foster professional technical talents and next-generation leaders in the cutting-edge and advanced electrical and energy industry sectors. Since its foundation in 1982, it has been fostering individuals essential to the industry, academia, research institutes, and governments through systematic curriculums and innovative research practices. It is continuously striving to advance as the most prestigious department in South Korea.

In the Department of Electrical Engineering, we focus on a wide range of theoretical and practical training in a broad range of fields, such as electrical power systems, power electronics, discharge/high-voltage, sensors, energy production and storage, ultra-high frequency circuits, artificial intelligence, robotics, and system control. In addition, we strive to cultivate the sense of ethical responsibility required as engineers.

More than 80% of the electrical engineering students benefit from a variety of scholarships, and by adopting the Accreditation Board for Engineering Education of Korea ABEEK system in 2005, we have been complying with the international standards of electrical engineering education to foster outstanding students with global competitiveness who can be recognized on the world stage. To cultivate international cooperation capabilities, we offer a double degree program with the University of Texas in Dallas in the United States. Furthermore, we have made agreements with leading universities in the U.S., Europe, and Asia for exchange programs, thereby sending exchange students who want to develop international mindsets every year.

We will continue to endeavor to produce creative talents who will pioneer the future and lead the world based on the university’s educational philosophy of truth, pride, and service.
